We’ve had so much fun celebrating World Book Day at Little Sunlight’s Nursery! 5/03/2026

Today was all about discovering the magic that lives within the pages of a book, where stories spark imagination, bring characters to life, and take us on wonderful adventures together.

Today at Little Sunlights, we had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day. The children arrived dressed as their favourite characters or snuggled up in their pyjamas, ready to enjoy some lovely bedtime stories. Many brought in their favourite books to share, and it was wonderful to see them chatting about their stories and admiring each other’s costumes.

Our little ones were busy creating delightful Hungry Caterpillar paintings and even had a special visit from A Tiger Who Came to Tea! They also enjoyed looking at their favourite books while soaking up the sunshine in the garden.

The Over 2’s spent time singing their favourite songs and sharing their home books, chatting about the different characters and adventures within the stories.

Meanwhile, the Preschoolers got hands-on with a Goldilocks and the Three Bears tuff tray, where they had a blast feeding the bears different porridge oats! They also shared stories from home and worked together on Gruffalo puzzles.

What a wonderful day full of little adventures and happy readers!

Chinese New Year 17/02/2026

At Little Sunlights, we’ve been having a fantastic time celebrating Chinese New Year!

Our under 2s have enjoyed exploring a red-themed sensory tray filled with various resources, allowing them to experience a range of textures.

The over 2s have engaged in some exciting activities, practising their Chinese writing by looking at different cards and trying to copy the characters they observed.

In our Preschool area, the children have been enjoying our Chinese restaurant role-play area, dressing up in lovely Chinese outfits. We watched a delightful video of dancing Chinese dragons and even had a go at our own dancing! The children also explored a rice sensory tray, featuring pictures that celebrate Chinese New Year. They shared their thoughts on the celebrations and discussed similar traditions they enjoy at home with their Mummy’s and Daddy’s.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Chinese New Year!

Pancake Day Celebration! 17/02/2026

Yesterday, the children enjoyed a wonderful time celebrating Pancake Day. The under-twos engaged in a lemon water sensory tray activity, which helped with their sensory development, exposing them to various smells and colours while enhancing their fine motor skills as they tipped and poured.

The Preschool and over-twos focused on developing their independence by assisting in fruit preparation. We talked about safety while handling food, and the Preschool children showed a keen interest in learning about where their food comes from, discussing the different fruit-growing locations.

To top off the day, we had delicious pancakes for dessert at tea time, all thanks to our wonderful Alex, who made pancakes for everyone! The children thoroughly enjoyed choosing their toppings and watching Alex flip the pancakes.

We hope everyone had a fantastic Pancake Day!

Valentine’s Day at Little Sunlight’s Nursery 14/02/2026

This week at Little Sunlight’s Nursery, we have been focusing on “Things We Love” as we prepare to celebrate Valentine’s Day tomorrow.

Our over twos designed some delightful love heart wands, carefully sticking, wrapping and decorating. A wonderful activity to support and strengthen their fine motor skills.

Preschool have been busy mark making in our Valentine’s-themed sensory tuff tray, exploring different tools, textures and materials to create their own special patterns. This sensory-rich activity encouraged creativity, early writing skills and lots of imaginative play.

Our under twos had the sweetest time splashing and exploring in their very own Valentine’s-inspired tuff tray, enjoying lots of sensory play and happy giggles along the way.

The children especially loved crafting their very own hearts out of clay, carefully molding and shaping them. Once they had dried, the children proudly painted their beautiful creations, adding bright colors and personal touches, all while strengthening their fine motor skills and letting their creativity shine.

We baked with love,

We played with love,

And most importantly, we shared love and kindness with our friends.

What a heartwarming week it has been!
